IMM at work in USA

IMM has been privileged to be involved with LWCS and Laurel Mission since 1993 (Pic 2: The Mission), in the heart of the coal mining area of E. Kentucky.

LWCS was started in 1984 in Big Laurel, Ky (not big at all) by the Boggs family in the basement of their home, with nine children. Quality academic education with a Christian emphasis has been provided to a growing number of students each year since then. They memorize scripture, share Christ with their parents and peers and over the years many children and adults have come to know our Saviour Jesus as a result.

Our hearts never failed to be warmed each time we visit the school, located in a remote coal mining "holler" of Harlan County, Kentucky, and listen to the children sing praises to God and recite scripture before classes begin. (Pic 1: Titus Boggs and the Children) Three miles away, on the other side of "Big" Laurel, next to Greasy Creek, the Boggs family also operate Laurel Mission, a multi-faceted ministry involving three small local churches, camps for young people, a food pantry and clothing store, and assistance in many practical ways for the local population. Church and mission groups come regularly from far and near to the mission to minister and themselves receive spiritual encouragement.

Zimbabwe
Rev Tafadzwa Chikudo visited the Mazambane gold mine, where he met two groups of miners. He noticed one young man had a great need of salvation in Christ. He had run away from home and was now involved in drink and drugs. After two hours of conversation and counselling the young man acknowledged his sin and accepted Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord. Preparations to arrange for him to return to his family to seek forgiveness and reconciliation are in hand. Praise God.
